THE SPIRITUAL BLACKSMITH

It is a glorious achievement to master one's own temper.

The tempering of steel is analogous to the tempering of one's self through suffering the effects of our bad habits, behaviors, actions, etc.

It is the transformation of the self from a hardened/ very dense state of ignorance/ immorality into a lighter, brighter, moral being who took knowledge into himself, understood it, and did a 360 degree turn away from wrong action into Right action.

It is the transfiguration of the self from a very low vibrational frequency of thought, emotion and action into a very high vibrational frequency of being after the fire (Truth) has enlightened the being.

Tempering of steel
(becoming a unified adult being whose thoughts, emotions and actions are in alignment with the greater will of the universe)
is usually performed after hardening (the suffering endured after committing transgressions
against natural law),to reduce some of the excess hardness (ignorance, denial of truth, FEAR)

and is done by heating the metal (exposing the mind to Truth, piercing the veil of the fictional matrix) to some temperature (amount of intensive inquiry - grammar stage) below the critical temperature for a certain period of time (for as much time as it takes), then allowed to cool in still air. (letting it all sink in, the understanding of the Logic/ deductive reasoning).

The exact temperature determines the amount of hardness (ignorance/ mind control) removed,
and depends on both the specific composition of the alloy (level and amount of constructs of belief in inconsistencies/ contradictions) and on the desired properties (level and amount of truth/reality you personally choose to embody) in the finished product (rhetoric stage/ beginning to take Right action in the world, embodiment of Wisdom).

For instance, very hard tools (semi-moral people)
are often tempered at low temperatures, (natural law consequences for bad behaviors)
while springs (very low moral or no moral people)
are tempered to much higher temperatures (natural law consequences for bad behaviors).

In glass (a child), tempering is performed by heating the glass and then quickly cooling the surface, increasing the toughness (morality).
